Another day another thousand rejections... gotta love it baby!!!!!

August 25, 2014
Hey hey hey!!!!
It's been another week! That's just crazy! I hope you're all doing well in the land of Fry sauce! It's probably never been called that, i just remembered how much i miss fry sauce... well anyway, let me tell you about my week!
Unfortunately this week has shown little to no success/improvement on last week. In fact it's actually been less productive than last week. The branch here is really small, so we've basically exhausted all their referrals, or so they say, and the area book has not been well kept, so we've been trying to clean it up, update it, and check up on everyone in that stinkin book. We struck out. With everyone.
So we've been reduced to tracting. Whoever said tracting was the least effective way of finding people was 100 % correct. We've been tracting for a solid 4-5 hours a day, combined with trying to reactivate less actives, working with recent converts, asking members for referrals, talking to people on the street. Anything and Everything to avoid tracting. But sometimes that's all you can do. We've been getting pretty good at contacting people on the streets and at the door, but nothing seems to work. It's hard, and a little depressing. But as long as you keep at it and pray your guts out, the lord will take care of you. And so it happened with us on Saturday night.
We had been tracting one day and knocked on the door of a lady named Andrea, she said she was busy and that we caught her at a bad time, that she had to put the kids to bed, that she already had a religion, any and every excuse she could think of. So we simply told her about how God has a plan of her called the plan of happiness and that it outlines how we can live with our families forever, then asked if there was a better time we could come back to teach her about it. She dodged it a little by saying there wasn't a specific day or time that was best for her... we told her we'd try back again some other time, she was visibly annoyed that we'd still try to come back.
But we did so on Saturday, We saw her husband taking out the trash and walked up to him, told him that we had spoken with Andrea about our church and asked if this was a good time to visit them. And for the first time since i've been here, after thousands of doors knocked, This man invited us in. I swear, i had to physically restrain myself from getting on my knees and praising God with a loud voice that someone finally let us in!!! Instead i just smiled and said thank you. His wife was not excited to see us walk in the door, she started making excuses again about how she had to put the kid to bed and finish the dishes and all these "Anderea type" excuses. But he said it's okay, and that we'd make it quick. We chatted for a while to get to know them, I told him about Our Church, the missionaries, the Book of Mormon, and all of a sudden he asked if we had anything he could read to learn more about us! I just smiled and pulled out a Book of Mormon and explained that not only will he learn about our church from reading this book, but a whole host of additional blessings as well. He took it and committed to read it, I also gave him a restoration pamphlet, talked about that for about 30 seconds, bore my testimony, wrote our number on the pamphlet, and left. They are the coolest little family. I hope and pray they feel impressed to let us return and teach them.
God not only answered my prayer. But the prayers of that family, whether they knew they were missing something or not, God has provided them with the opportunity to fill that hole in their lives.
This gospel is Absolutely True. I can testify of the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I know the Book of Mormon is true, and I Challenge anyone and everyone to prove me wrong. They cannot. Read it, Pray about it, ask god with all the sincerity of your soul if it be true. And you'll know as I do, that it is in fact the word of god. I hunger for the opportunity to bring the blessings of the gospel into other people's lives. And I pray, that someone, somewhere, will let me.
The Church is true.
I love the Gospel.
Thank you to everyone at home who have given me the support to get out here.
Until next week,
-Elder DeFreese
